"In September and December 1752 ... it was called 'A Court of Common Pleas and Quarter Sessions.' In October 1754, the word 'Common' was omitted. In March 1755 it was 'An Inferior Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions.' In June and September 1755 it was 'A Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, ' and in September 1756, 'An Inferior Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions.'"--Foreword.
