Description
As children develop letter knowledge, (also called alphabetic principle), they learn to recognize and name upper- and lowercase letters. They also discover that there are sounds associated with each letter. Children learn letter names by singing songs such as the "Alphabet Song" , and by reciting rhymes. They learn letter shapes as they play with blocks, plastic letters, and alphabetic books. Children who have many opportunities to see, play with, and compare letters learn their letters more easily.
